Weddings in Santa Margherita Ligure - the venue

This elegant Italian villa is situated in a wonderful position overlooking the sea in the centre of Santa Margherita Ligure. The palace is surrounded by a magnificent park divided into the "Italian Garden" (twinned with the Botanical Gardens of Villa Hanbury in Ventimiglia) and the English Romantic Park with marble statues and exotic flowers and trees.
The present palace was originally a fortified castle, which had been built on the ruins of a roman fortress from 300 A. D. In 1678 the ruined castle was demolished and the building underwent a major restoration following the style of the famous architect Galeazzo Alessi.
At the beginning of the twentieth century the Villa became a Grand Hotel and lodged some nobles such as the prince of Wied and in 1904 the Queen Margaret of Savoy.
Near the Villa, in the romantic Villa San Giacomo is open the elegant "The Coffee House", a wonderful place to have a rest in the middle of the park.
Today the Villa is a prestigious centre where important cultural events, such as literary prizes concerts and congresses are organised. The elegant rooms of the palace offer the ideal location for civil weddings and receptions.

Ceremony

Civil ceremonies in the elegant Vaymer Room. It can hold 30 - 40 people. On the walls and the ceiling are beautiful stucco- works and three oil paintings by Gio Enrico Vaymer (18th century) showing noblemen and ladies of the family Centurione.
On the Noble Storey the big Stucco Room is a wonderful setting for a wedding. The ceiling is decorated with beautiful stucco-works and on the walls frescos of the 17th century can be admired. A magnificent chandelier of the 18th century reflects it's light on the marble floor decorated with flower-like pattern. From the windows the view on the harbour and on the gulf is superb. The room can hold 100 people.
