Church description


Beautiful Gothic church that dates back to the 13th century. Its very simple façade still retains the characteristics of its original architectural style. The interior will surprise you, the roof is supported by a wooden framework, a single nave in Romanesque and Gothic style, with marble and marvellous frescoes. There is also a formidable inner cloister built on the 15th century. Lovely is the chapel of the Blessed Bartolo with frescoes of Mainardi Sebastiano. The Terracotta floor is the work of Andrea della Robbia. Do not miss the possibility to marry in this important and historical setting.

In the historical centre of S. Gimignano. San Gimignano is only 50 km southwest of Florence and 30 km from Siena.

Spouses are requested to meet with the Parish Priest of S. Gimignano a couple of months prior the wedding if wishing to get married in this beautiful village with a Catholic rite.
