Description
The location of this charming pension on the Zattere waterfront is one of the most wonderful of Venice. The enchanting view of the Giudecca canal that the promenade offers, along with the light and sunshine that create a refuge and favoured walkway for Venetians even on the coldest of winter days, makes it one of the most enchanting places to stay in Venice.
The pension used to be just a restaurant with rooms above it; a typical inn immortalised by John Ruskin in 1876. Photos of the good old days adorn the walls and references to John Ruskin are scattered about, but what makes it so special is its charm. The pleasant and urbane owners of this lovely Pensione have renovated it with simple but well-chosen furnishings. Paintings, furniture and objects belonging to the family for generations have all been used to good effect, whilst culture is catered for by the classical music in the foyer and information on famous and less well known cultural activities throughout Venice.
Public areas are light and airy – marble floors and oak beams successfully mix the new with the old. The intimate hall with its shadowy reading corners is an open invitation for afternoon tea.
Wedding reception
Wedding reception can be set outside on the private pontoon with marvellous views of the Giudecca canal for a maximum of 50 guests.
