Wedding dreams have no limits, especially in Venice

Classic and exclusive. If there's one thing that Venice does better than anyone else in the world, that is luxury. It was exactly what Stephanie and Michael thought of this magical place, that it would be the perfect recipe to present their party with equal amounts of somptuous architecture, black-tie elegance and once-in-a-lifetime moments.

It's not a coincidence that Venice is by far the most known, called and copied city there ever was, and its uncertain future certainly puts it on the radar of romance-hunting couples all over the globe. Of the many incredible lieus one can choose as celebratory venues on the island, our couple in love decided to meet Venice's spirit in its fullest beauty and handpicked the splendidly restored Palazzo Rocca, on the banks of Canal Grande.

Let us tell you what the highlights of their beautiful day were.

The vision

The ceremony had to be performed according to the Lutheran Evangelical Protestant faith. When our couples require a religious wedding, we always inform well on the procedure to follow and the necessary paperwork. Time is of the essence, since bureaucracy with churches can take longer than normal. Stephanie and Michael had their eyes on the designated Church, Chiesa Luterana Scuola dell'Angelo, a cozy, little haven with a very active community dedicated to the support of local and foreign followers, alike. The location of the church was not particularly close to the reception, however easily reachable with water taxis via Canal Grande. This would make for a wow bridal entrance moment.

Another important aspect for the day concerned the overall schedule. With an early ritual at the church, planned for 12 midday, the only logical next step would be to host a wedding luncheon but this would collide with the intention of both bride and groom to give a proper wedding formal party at dusk, in true Venetian fashion.

The action plan

How did we pull it off

With six shiny, wooden water taxis plus one reserved for the newlyweds, and the private use of the Gritti Palace bar section in two different moments of the day - before and after the ceremony - we were able to space out the two main events of Stephanie and Michael's Big day, the wedding function and the gala dinner and still allow for a much needed resting time in between, giving guests their opportunity for an outfit change. Walking in Venice is only practical for the photoshoot and water taxis are made for glamorous events. Simply too many tourists, hundreds of cramped bridges and high humidity in summer days to walk the distances.

The soirée was a delight, by all means. Anticipated by a short welcome cocktail moment held in the secret garden, a true Venetian example of indulgence which can set the right tone to the evening, the reception dinner welcomed the group on the noble floor adorned in crystal chandeliers and romantic décor on display for the occasion.

Before the final goodbye and goodnight, a more informal and fun atmosphere was brought on by the pizza midnight snack, another great favorite to keep in mind if you're wanting to please your guests.
