Where family, authenticity, and Southern Italian soul shaped a wedding that felt like home.

Elia & Kelsey’s Intimate Wedding in Puglia at Masseria Borgo Ritella

Some weddings shine because of grandeur. Others shine because of truth. Elia and Kelsey’s wedding in Italy belonged to the second kind. An intimate celebration, deeply human, rooted in connection, family, and the simple beauty of being together.

Arriving from Arizona with their closest friends and family, the couple envisioned a destination wedding that felt warm, welcoming, and meaningful. With just 25 guests, including their child, the focus was never on scale, but on presence. Every person mattered. Every moment was shared.

The choice of Masseria Borgo Ritella reflected this philosophy perfectly. The masseria offered exceptional standards in aesthetics, history, cuisine, and service, while maintaining a profoundly familiar atmosphere. More than a venue, it felt like a small countryside village, where time slows down, and relationships take centre stage.

The wedding day unfolded under a clear Puglian sky, bright and luminous. White tones reflected the sunlight, creating an atmosphere that felt almost suspended in time. Guests moved through the borgo as if they were part of a shared home, not attendees at an event.

This intimate wedding in Puglia was not limited to one day. Each day was designed as an experience, allowing guests to truly live in Southern Italy. Cooking together, tasting wines, sailing along the coast, sharing meals prepared with their own hands. The wedding became a journey, one that strengthened bonds and created memories far beyond the ceremony itself. This is the kind of wedding Italy does best when guided with care.

The vision

Elia and Kelsey's notes

Elia and Kelsey envisioned a wedding that felt authentic, joyful, and deeply rooted in place. Their inspiration came from the textures and rhythms of Puglia itself: cotton, wood, ceramic, sunlight, and generosity.

Color played a subtle but important role. Joyful tones blended naturally with the masseria’s architecture, never overpowering the surroundings. The design respected the environment rather than reshaping it, allowing the borgo’s identity to lead the way.

Emotionally, the goal was to create a space where everyone felt included. Children were not just present, but actively involved in every moment. The celebration unfolded without rigid separations between ceremony, dinner, and party. Everything flowed naturally, just like a family gathering.

A defining element of the vision was trust. The couple placed complete confidence in the professionals guiding them, allowing each supplier to express their expertise fully. This trust resulted in setups that felt perfectly aligned with the mood, the location, and the couple’s story.

This vision speaks to couples dreaming of a destination wedding in Italy that feels real rather than staged. A wedding where elegance is found in sincerity, and luxury is measured by how deeply people feel connected.

The action plan

How did we pull it off

Planning Elia and Kelsey’s wedding meant designing an experience rather than a single event. Each day was thoughtfully curated to celebrate Puglia through its people, flavours, and landscapes.

The journey began with immersive experiences. Guests took part in a traditional orecchiette cooking class, guided by local women from the borgo. Wine tastings followed on a terrace overlooking the sea, and lunches were prepared using the very products guests had learned to make. These moments transformed guests into participants, not spectators.

Welcome bags were personally assembled by the couple, filled with local products as a heartfelt thank you to those who had traveled so far. This gesture set the emotional tone for the entire celebration.

The rehearsal dinner took place in a refined seaside restaurant, offering elegance while maintaining a relaxed rhythm. On the wedding day, preparations happened within the borgo itself, surrounded by stone walls, quiet courtyards, and the feeling of a small village coming to life. The symbolic ceremony took place in an open space facing the small church, grounding the moment in simplicity and tradition. Personalised tambourines awaited each guest as place cards, instantly creating interaction and joy. Cocktail and dinner followed with live cooking stations featuring mozzarella and panzerotti prepared in front of guests. Music became a living presence, with a live band, singer, and saxophonist weaving mini performances throughout the evening, even during dinner. Children moved freely, participating naturally in every phase of the celebration. Desserts were served from a live tiramisù station, prepared on the spot. Above it all, a full moon rose, quietly witnessing a night filled with laughter and connection.

The experience continued with a catamaran boat tour along the coast near Monopoli, with pizza in Polignano a Mare, closing the celebration with pure Italian joy.

This is the WeddingItaly method: expert planning that disappears, leaving space for emotion, authenticity, and unforgettable memories.
