Sandra and Himmat

A sanctuary at the foot of stunning Apennine

Welcome to the most colourful day of the wedding year

Sandra and Himmat wrote their wedding story in the cute and tiny Tuscan borgo of Corsignano, sleeping in a valley bordered by the Apennine mountains. This major natural attraction and spine of the peninsula welcomes travelers with uninterrupted forests and grasslands, known for their entirely preserved ancient ecosystems.

Why would someone choose this as their location of preference is very easy to comprehend. The area abounds in small villages who are attached to traditional life, pridely showing the intricate beauty of their antique streets and buildings, which are always understandably praised and prized for their unique character. In other words, here is your ultimate destination wedding stop in true Stile Italiano. Sandra and Himmat had eyes on this green corner of the country for a while, and naturally fell in love with one of the properties of this area, its rustic essence and richness of local flavours.

The vision

Sandra and Himmat's notes

For this gorgeous globetrotting couple we were tasked to design a three-day lineup in the Tuscan countryside including welcome dinner, a civil ceremony with reception and ending with a traditional wedding ceremony.

The future husband and wife would be celebrated in Corsignano with the blessings bestowed by a guru of Sikh faith. Locking the venue early gave us a sense of relief, partly because of the size of the wedding, and knowing that the entire group made of 90 internationals would be on the same site was the right choice. This would allow the team to work with ease, keeping the group together, avoiding the need to organise transport of guests from different hotels.

The morning of the third day would be exclusively dedicated to the Henna and Haldi ceremonies. We planned the Mehendi first, the special time reserved respectively for the bride and groom during which one of our experienced henna designer created wonderful patterns and motifs on the hands and feet of Sandra and Hammat, and only then receiving the intricate paste mixed with core ingredients like turmeric, sandalwood, rose water and yogurt on their skin, as part of the second sacred ritual, the Haldi.

The five deal breakers for Sandra and Himmat

  • Ceremony: civil followed by spiritual Sikh wedding
  • Venue: somewhere with the right balance between tradition and comfort
  • Guests

The action plan

How did we pull it off

We loved the diversity of this wedding group, their mix of nationalities brought a certain sense of worldly love and added cultural richness to an already beaming event. Traditional Sikh weddings are an absolute tribute to life colours, a celebration of life itself, embellishing the holy union with loud music and all things merry-making.

A grand entrance by the groom who arrived at the altar on a horse, adhering to Sikh wedding traditions set the tone for the day. This moment was incredibly sentimental, each detail focusing with respect on the ancient customs, from the horse decorated with golden drapes and Himmat's family and friends following behind, playing music, singing and dancing.

The whole day was accompanied by the rhythmic presence of the Dhol drums played by talented and very entertaining musicians, spreading joy in and around the property.

We were recommended to research well on the catering options for the reception especially considering the indian menu of the last day, the guests would have appreciated greatly to be served their own food cooked with care and authentic flavours. We really didn’t want to disappoint our couple and pheuw, the 90 happy faces as their bellies were getting full made the day for us planners and our local chef extraordinaire Linda.

Vadhaai Sandra and Himmat, a long life of happiness and health to the both of you!
