Villa D'Este

Lake District

A 5-star experience in this princely lake villa

Impressive and majestic, this 16th century villa was nothing less than the private residence of Cardinal Tolomeo Gallio, a very important figure for the Italian clergy at the times. It was later transformed into a luxury hotel, around 1873.

Considered to this day as one of best hotels in the world by the most notable travel guides, this marvelous location is constantly renovated in order to provide its guests with comforts of the highest standard.

Given its timeless architectural beauty, topped off only by the natural grace of the landscapes surrounding Lake Como, the venue has been targeted for at least 200 hundred years now as an exclusive location for meetings and summits.

The villa's 152 rooms are all equally beautiful while featuring individually designed furnishings and detailing, such as marble bathrooms, velvets, brocades and silks. In addition to the main building, four elegant private villas are located in the impressive hotel parkland to offer a more private stay.

Natural reserves and mountain trails

The Italian lake district is known on tourist guides and books for its dark green, majestic mountains framing this mystical basin which inspired for centuries mythical stories and literature work. Once again, nature is a calming, generous presence in this land, and stands as a solid backdrop to the countless examples of human artistry and architectural genius to be found around here.

On one side, the buzzing little town centres of Cernobbio, Laglio, Lezzeno, Brienno with their cobblestone streets filled with elegantly dressed locals going out for an aperitif, or hitting the corner restaurant for a 3 course journey of elegant, yummy food. Outside of town, the magnificent villas - and their Hollywood owners.

On the far side, the many adventurous trails taking you around the silent beauty that the mountains preserve to show you the quiet side of Italy, in all its authentic flavours.
