In Sanremo, there’s always something going on! The City of Flowers is in fact internationally renowned because of the many yearly events and activities that typify this charming city. 

The marvelous theater Ariston, which is also the Sanremo Music Festival venue, is located at the end of the lovely “Empress Avenue” (Corso Imperatrice): this interesting avenue was named after the Czarina Maria Alexandrovna, spouse of Czar Alexander 2nd. The imperial couple had visited Sanremo in winter 1874, and the Czarina had loved the city so much that she wished to give her personal touch in contributing to the embellishment of Sanremo by donating palms to line the avenue with to the city she had loved so much.
